Using their skills, a group of rafting instructors made an amazing rescue last Thursday, saving someone stranded on the bank of the Nolichucky River in Tennessee. It was a daring mission, and the saved party couldn’t be happier.
Who needed saving? A bear cub! You can see her here in the raft.
The 14-pound American black bear was brought to Appalachian Bear Rescue, an organization that cares for orphaned cubs.
Dubbed Noli Bear, the cub got a full medical examination and is currently staying at the rescue center.
For now, Noli Bear will eat delicious meals of yogurt, grapes, and puppy chow, which will help her put on the weight she needs.
Noli Bear will live at the center for a few months while she recuperates.
The Appalachian Bear Rescue “hope[s] that this publicity…will encourage people to learn more about black bears.”
After all, how could you be scared of this snuggly girl?!

Once she’s healthy enough, Noli Bear, whose name comes from the river where she was found, will be released back into the wild. But first, she needs to grow to be about 50 pounds, which the rescue group says will take several months. For now, she and her healthy appetite will be calling the Appalachian Bear Rescue home.
