Finding a lost dog can be one of the hardest days of any parent’s life. Not because they have to figure who it belongs to, or find a place for it for a few days. No, it’s because their kids will want to keep the pup, and they’re willing to do anything to get what they want.

Watch how this dad handles the tough situation when his daughter presents a compelling case for keeping this poor puppy:

She is pretty convincing…I’ve gotta admit! But dad has a point — some other family is very sad that they’re little pooch is gone. Hopefully they found her home not long after!

When this tiny Schnauzer’s human was gone for a few days, he was lost. Then, she finally returned after the short trip…and, judging by this little pooch’s reaction, he thought she was gone for good!

This puppy is overwhelmed by so many good feels!

That’s why dogs are known as man’s best friend. It doesn’t matter how long the absence is, they are always thrilled to be reunited with their humans!

When rescuers from the Mia Foundation discovered Gertie, she was abandoned in a dumpster at only one day old. What’s more, she was born with a cleft palate. But that doesn’t slow her down…if anything it makes the cutie even more adorable.

Just watch how she drinks water!

If that’s not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen, I’m at a loss for what to show you.

When a local Texas resident was on his very early morning drive to work, he noticed a box on the side of the road. It looked like a box for a desk fan, and he figured that he could use it at the office…so he tossed it into the back of his pickup. Who doesn’t like free things? But when he stopped at a gas station and took a peek inside at his free roadside find, he was shocked to find that it wasn’t a fan at all…

This will break your heart in two.

Thank goodness the person who did this terrible thing will be punished for his actions. All too often, there is no justice for the animals that are abandoned like this. It’s so hard to understand how anyone could ever do something so cruel. Now we can only hope that this sweet pup will learn to trust people again, and that she finds a loving forever home soon.

For this adorable beagle pup, there’s a tough decision to be made: “Do I stay, or do I go on a car ride?” Unable to make up his mind, though, he decides to straddle the fence…or the window.

Just wait ’til you see for yourself — you’ll be laughing harder than his owner is in no time!

Hang in there, buddy! Someone appears to be making that decision for you.

When a little boy was playing with his pair of pugs, a dad and a son, something adorably hilarious happened. He was driving them around using his tiny motorized scooter…when suddenly, his pups began fighting for the best cruising seat.

At one point, dad “accidentally” pushed his boy off…and the reactions will make you LOL.

A dad might be willing to give up ride after ride to his kid, but sooner or later….it’s DAD’s turn.

For this pooch, getting attention from his humans is no small feat. It seems like he just can’t get these people to show him some love! While nuzzling up to them might work any other day, he had to resort to more drastic measures this time.

We’ve all been there: we’ve had an exhausting day at work or running errands and all we want to do when we get home is collapse. But then the phone rings or the kids are running around craving attention…suddenly sleep seems like a pipe dream.

Sonar, a doberman mix, knows this feeling all too well…because no sooner than the second he shut his eyes, Libby the adorable great dane puppy wanted to strike up a play session.

I’m surprised Sonar actually got a break — good thing Libby’s mom was nearby to get her off the big guy’s back. Just give him an hour, girl.

As loyal and dedicated humans, we always want our four-legged friends to look and feel their best. Whether that means taking them to the groomer for a spa day every so often, or decking them out in the most adorable winter coats, we want our best friends to be their happiest, most adorable selves.

That’s why Halloween is such an awesome time for us as pet parents — if we have pets that don’t mind rocking the latest costume trends, that is. Sure, they may not love wearing that pumpkin suit every year, but they do it for us. And when it comes to grinning and bearing it during costume season, this adorable dog is a champion.

Look at little Munchkin go! Oh, the things she does for her humans. But the good news is that she’ll probably win every costume contest at this year’s Halloween party, and that’s never a bad thing.

Have you ever experienced a dog lick attack? It’s one of the most hilarious, disgusting, adorable, happy things you can have happen to you (in my opinion).

When this little boy finds himself knee-deep in his very first, he can’t decide whether he wants to laugh or escape…either way, it’s adorable.

Everyone loves puppies, even when there are more than you can handle at once. Too many puppies? No, never too many puppies.

He may be overwhelmed, but it’s with joy!

This past August, citizens of Ireland’s capital came across something incredibly disturbing. They found a severely injured greyhound wandering the streets. Thankfully, they called the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals straight away.

It appeared that someone, for who knows what reason, stabbed her multiple times.

The wounds ran deep, and Cinnamon was very weak…but she had a very good reason to stay alive.

Twelve of them, in fact! Just a few days after she was rescued, she gave birth to this batch of adorableness.

The eight boys and four girls were aptly named Basil, Chilli, Ginger, Jasmine, Lavender, Nutmeg, Paprika, Pepper, Saffron, Sage, Salt, and Wasabi.

Here she is safe and sound, with all of her pups.

Mom and the little ones will rest easy in their foster home until they all find loving forever homes.

It’s amazing what a mother will withstand when she knows she has children to protect…but it’s also so disturbing that someone would put her in that position in the first place. Cinnamon truly is a very strong lady!

Earlier this September, a donkey was left for dead in Brazil. He was a victim of a hit-and-run, with no one nearby to witness the accident. He sat there, dying alone. But soon other drivers noticed him, including two who have made it their mission to rescue animals in need, just like this little donkey.

Stefanie Rodrigues and Zenith Gurgel named him Guerreirinho, meaning “little warrior.”

They brought him to their home, which doubles as an animal sanctuary, after calling around and finding out that authorities would most likely euthanize him.

There, Guerreirinho found a loving touch from an unlikely little friend.

The accident gave him three fractures in his legs, so until his rescuers could accumulate the funds to tend to the surgeries…this trooper had to stay off of his feet. Luckily, his new pal wasn’t about to leave his side.

Rodriguez and Gurgel received many donations to help fund the donkey’s surgeries, but they’re still a long way away from their financial goal. You can donate here.

It’s wonderful that this little warrior won’t have to endure this trying time alone. Animals really are amazingly caring…and yet it’s so hard to understand how a human could leave a helpless creature in this condition. Everyone knows that dogs love to have fun, but this pup got tired of playing fetch. Instead, the adorable bulldog decided to start a game of hide-and-seek with his human.

The guy just couldn’t find his buddy anywhere when he got home…until he made his way over to the stuffed animals, that is.

Okay, Buddha the bulldog might need a little practice, but we certainly appreciate the effort. If nothing else, we should give him credit for inventiveness! What will he come up with next?

Online dating has taken the world by storm. One study states that one third of couples have now met through one of the many internet dating platforms. Quite often, the connections are more successful than the relationships between couples that met through other venues. The reason could be that many of these sites use a lot of science, algorithms, and other fancy technological strategies (that only tech-savvy people can really understand) to find the perfect partner for the user.

Elizabeth Holmes, CEO and co-founder of Paws Like Me, figured that this same general principle could be applied to finding the perfect pet for your family.

While working in tech, Holmes ran a rescue group for many years…

…where she learned what it really takes to match a person’s specific situation with the right dog, based on many different factors. During this time, she got flooded with calls from people needing to surrender their pet. She was surprised to find that many of them were willing to foster their own pup for a while.

The reality is that most dogs end up being re-homed at least once in their lifetime.

More often than not, the original family doesn’t want to give up their dog.

However, changes in circumstances can often force a dog to be re-homed.

What Paws Like Me offers is a platform for current pet owners to find a new home for their canine without having to surrender him or her to a shelter.

The current pet owners can also make sure that their baby goes to a truly great home.

The hope is to reduce the amount of dogs that end up in shelters…maybe someday in the future eradicating the need for shelters all together.

With the help and resources from Paws Like Me until a match is found, then the entire process is made much less traumatic for the pup.

Avoiding kill shelters can also, obviously, help save lives.

Perfecting the precise matching algorithm wasn’t easy. But now, Paws Like Me is able to provide a 91% match based on info provided from the current owner or shelter and the person applying to adopt a dog.

That’s right — it’s not only individuals posting their pets online, PLM is partnered with other organizations.

Dogs from 1,000 shelters nationwide (and in Canada) are available for adoption through the site.

About 140 organizations have actually enrolled to partner with the site.

When one of their adoptees is homed by PLM, they get 50% of the adoption fee to help keep their organization afloat as well. A portion of every home-to-home adoption, however, is donated to organizations in need.

Ok, so there’s a bunch of science, sweat, and logic that went into the site…but are there real results?

When his parents simply couldn’t financially support him anymore, they wanted to make sure he found a loving new home. Holmes looks forward to expanding the platform to help cats get re-homed as well, but, as we all know, cats are very different from dogs, and that will require an entire new matching algorithm. Before expanding to the feline community, Paws Like me wants to dedicate their full attention to making sure their site continues to perform at 100% in the dog department…which includes adding post-adoption support for users. Everyone loves a good pool party. Even if you refuse to get your hair wet, or think the water’s way too cold, you can still relax on the side, enjoy some summertime snacks, or grab a water gun and start an epic fight. And as it turns out, that summertime delight isn’t limited to just us humans. Because after watching these three adorable huskies enjoying a pool party, there’s no doubt they feel the same way.

I definitely don’t think they’re worried about how their hair looks. It’s almost as if these dogs have springs in their legs! I think we can agree these dogs love pool parties about as much as the next guy.

For some of us, it’s kind of hard to be around others for long periods of time…or really at all. Sometimes it’s better to just stay in with a good book and a cup of tea (or giant bowl of ice cream). But when society does force us into social situations, it can get rough, leaving us longing for our best friends (i.e. Liz Lemon).

I only wish that I was as cute as all of these babies when I’m being awkward at a party!

If any of these guys would let me get anywhere near them, I’d give them all the biggest hug in the world, and tell them that they’ll get over their shyness…one day.

You just gotta jump in the deep end! Talk about the weather or terrible movies (or Beggin’ Strips and toy mice) with a stranger, and you’ll see it’s really not that bad!

Surprise gifts from a significant other are always fun. It’s nice to know that they’re thinking of you — even if there’s no special occasion to prepare for — and that they want to make you happy in any way they can. But this guy? Well, let’s just say he went above and beyond when he surprised his girlfriend…

With a new puppy!

I usually ruin surprises, but this one went off without a hitch. I wonder how she took it when she actually got to meet the pup!

Sometimes when you’re little, it’s hard to tell what’s for playing, and what’s not. For dogs, that confusion pretty much lasts a lifetime. They end up stealing shoes, TV remotes, and apparently cleaning implements, like this silly doggie does, for playtime.

He seems to be having a seriously good time!

Whatever makes you happy! As long as he doesn’t destroy the broom, so Mom and Dad can clean up after his shenanigans!
