Handmade ceramics make my heart pound, and these super cute animal ceramics are some of my favorites. Each delicate creation is made by Warsaw, Poland-based artist Marta Turowska.
Her whimsical bowls, saltshakers, platters and plates are functional and feature the most adorable animals on the planet including cats, whales, hedgehogs, unicorns and more. She makes each piece by hand using a potter’s wheel. She then hand paints every last feature with striking perfection.
The artist says, “I am passionate for clay, glazes and paints.” She uses each piece to tell a different story. “Each mug, salter or platter coming out of my workshop has its own story, different inspiration. Each of my items has its individual character that I want to share with their future owners.”
Turowska hopes her creations bring more than just joy but perhaps even a new movement of sorts. “At the start of XXth century, writer Nadezhda Mandelstam announced the beginning of an era of ugly things. I would love to bring back the beauty in everyday things, soap dishes, sugar-bowls, butter churns.”
