It’s been pretty much established that everyone loves bacon. After all, bacon, for good or for ill, has infiltrated pretty much every food item ever, from ice cream to alcohol. But now it’s time to finally bring bacon back to the brunch scene with this simple but very effective — and delicious — recipe.
You’re going to start off with bread…simple.
And of course, you need some bacon!
One egg will be mixed with…
Milk (or cream) and some salt.
Cut the crusts off the bread and flatten each piece with a rolling pin.
Cook those babies up!
- Roll each bacon and bread roll-up in the egg mixture, then shake off excess. If needed, use your fingers to make the coating even, especially around the seam, where the egg mixture will act like a glue.
- You can cook the rolls with the remaining bacon grease, or you can just use butter.
- Place the roll-ups in the pan and cook them for about three or four minutes, rotating them to ensure even browning.
We present to you French toast-wrapped bacon bites.
For added decadence, you can also serve these with dipping sauces.
Now, you devour.
The nice thing about this recipe is that you can personalize it to suit your tastes. Try it with fresh challah bread for a bit of sweetness, or cinnamon raisin bread for added flavor. Just make sure that the bread is soft so it can be easily rolled. The next time you have a lazy weekend morning, definitely give this a try!
