Skip The Mess Of Transplanting With The Pot That Grows With Your Plant

Houseplants are pretty awesome. They add a pop of green, they freshen the air, and sometimes they even produce flowers or edible items! But taking care of them can be tricky, especially when they get too big for their pots and have to upgrade to a bigger space. And if you don’t get to them in time, they can become crowded and very unhappy.

But now, there’s a pot that actually grows with your plant! No more stocking up on flowerpots.

It’s aptly called the Growth pot, and was inspired by origami. It was designed by Studio Ayaskan, a creative set of twins who split their time between London and Istanbul.

Made from a foldable material, the pot expands as the plant grows, taking on a new appearance in the process.

The only thing you have to do as a plant owner is add in more soil to fill in the space.

The designers describe their creation as something akin to the cycles of nature: “There is a strong disconnect between nature and the environments we are used to and comfortable in as humans.”

It also comes in a larger size for bigger plants.

“In nature, everything evolves, adapts, grows, blooms, degrades, dies, gets absorbed, reused. Nothing stands still…Everything flows.”

If you thought flowerpots were simply utilitarian, this one will elevate home gardening to an artistic level. Combine that with the practicality of an expanding pot, and you have the perfect item for even the most inexperienced gardener.

Growth is currently in its preproduction phases, but Studio Ayaskan is working with manufacturers to make the concept into a reality. You can see more of their work on their website, Facebook, and Twitter.

There are a lot of really clever designs out there. Some are practical, while others are just delightful:
