These Epic Little Scenes Were Created Using Everyday Items And A Much-Loved Toy

Though French photographer Samsofy‘s portfolio includes sweeping natural landscapes and trick rollerblading shots, he also tends to focus on the smaller things in life — the really small things, in fact. His ongoing series of LEGO figures in real-life settings will easily bring a smile to your face.

Using staged setups and naturally occurring features in the outside world, he creates whimsical, surreal scenes that his tiny, plastic subjects must navigate — sometimes at their own peril.

Many of his images are inspired by “geek culture” and involve superheroes, Star Wars characters, and video game references.

And there’s usually a humorous, satirical angle to them.

By playing with perspective and scale, Samsofy manages to create an entirely new way for viewers to see everyday objects. “My work combines techniques of photography, street art, model making and installations; in my created microcosms, I play with scale and material to alter perception,” he explains.

Things seen and used every day become completely different when the viewer imagines seeing them from the scale of a LEGO person. The world, as seen in the shot, becomes just as full of personality and action as the subjects.

And not all of his LEGO scenes have to be tiny. Check out these lounging AT-ATs.

Other scenes are taken from modern culture and everyday life.

Some are designed to perfectly mesh with tiny, real-life details.

And some are carefully staged using everyday items.

And some are a little bit of both!

Samsofy is a prolific photographer, and since we all know the possibilities are endless when it comes to LEGO creativity, he shows no signs of stopping this charming series anytime soon.

You can see much more of his work — LEGO and otherwise — on his website, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
