This Freaky Looking Soviet Plant Found In Alaska May Actually Be A Miracle Drug

During the reign of the Soviet Union, many odd experiments were going on in both Russia and the U.S., and some were more nefarious than others. One of the more positive products of these experiments was the discovery of Rhodiola rosea’s health benefits.

Originally found in the Siberian mountains, farmers in Alaska are coming across this plant, which unlike most crops, actually thrives in the land’s harsh conditions. It also has significant medical benefits, which Alaska hopes will help it catch on with the American people. Rhodiola rosea could one day be the coldest state’s biggest export.

For centuries, this bizarre plant was used by ancient northerly people to boost strength and help with altitude sickness.

Soviet researchers experimented with it to increase the physical and mental performance of their soldiers. There is also evidence that it was used as part of their space program.

It was discovered that the plant could survive Alaskan conditions, going weeks without water and months without sunlight. Moose and other animals don’t care to eat it. It’s quickly become Alaska’s most reliable crop.

The demand for Rhodiola is growing, even in America’s more mainstream markets. There are only about 5 acres of the plant currently being cultivated, but at 200 acres, it could prove to be Alaska’s most valuable crop.

I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely want to try some Rhodiola rosea. Some farmers say it makes for a very invigorating tea. No word yet on how it tastes, but if you’re in that 3 o’clock slump at work, maybe it will give you the extra boost you need.
