The TV show Mythbusters had been around for 9 years, 10 seasons and 187 episodes by the end of 2013. Executive producer, Dan Tapster, has kept records for every episode and has provided some interesting mythbusting statistics. Have you ever wondered how many cars they've destroyed or how many experiments they have conducted during this time? Well, wonder no more!
They tested a total of 833 myths, of which 461 were busted, 178 were found to be plausible and only 194 myths were actually confirmed. To get these statistics they had to conduct 2,510 experiments. In the nine years they have destroyed 146 vehicles, used 13.5 tons of explosives in 792 explosions and used an impressive amount of 33,500 yards of Duct Tape!
During Season 4 they busted the most myths (70 busted) but also confirmed the most at 32. The show premiered on Discovery Channel in October 2003 and the total amount of hours spent filming is approximately 5000 hours!
The show is hosted by Adam Savage (an American industrial designer and special effects designer/fabricator), and James "Jamie" Hyneman who is an American special effects expert. 'Buster' is a crash test dummy and the non-human assistant on the show. He plays an important role by taking the place of a human in the more dangerous myth tests.
