What will you give for some good bacon? Oscar Mayer claims their Thick Cut Apple Smoked bacon is "as good as gold," and they were willing to prove it.

They sent comedian Josh Sankey across the USA with nothing but a truck filled with 3,000 pounds of thick cut bacon as currency. After all, they claimed, it is "worth it's weight in gold."

That meant that Sankey was allowed no cash, credit cards or anything else—just bacon. Sankey planned to visit 12 American cities until the experiment's conclusion in Los Angeles on September 23, 2013.

The bacon proved amazing enough to buy Josh a couch to sleep on in Hagerstown at a cost of 24 bricks of bacon. He also bartered bacon for tickets to a New York Jets game!

Barters went from amazing to crazy. Josh bartered his way into meeting gold medalist Scott Hamilton; drove a race car three times on the Mid American Motorplex in Pacific Junction; stayed in many living rooms and a Mansion, and even got a man to get a Bacon Barter tattoo!

Sankey could not predict what kind of bartering would be needed ahead of time, and relied on the social network 'Twitter' to plan his next move.
