One man single-handedly invented over 15% of all recognized skating tricks!

John Rodney Mullen is a professional skateboarder, company owner, inventor, and public speaker who practices freestyle and street skateboarding.

He was born in Florida, and began skateboarding at the age of ten, on New Year’s Day of 1977 after a friend introduced him to the wonderful world of skateboarding.

He is credited with inventing numerous skateboarding tricks; 32 out of the 209 recognizable tricks! Some of them include the flatground ollie, kickflip, heelflip, impossible, and 360-flip. He has appeared in more than twenty skateboarding videos! And he even participated in his autobiography, entitled “The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself”.

Some other interesting facts about the king of the streets are that he won the very first contest he ever entered! And not to mention that he has only lost one freestyle contest in his entire life! He came in 2nd because he was sick.

While Tony Hawk is considered the king of vert, Rodney Mullen is definitely without a doubt the king of street.
